Nackte Haut sorgt für Aufregung im Städtchen Terbrüggen im Flandern des 18. Jahrhunderts: Zum einen, weil eine Statue, die der Künstler Ule Sleeks geschaffen hat, eine unbekleidete Dame zeigt und nun alle rätseln, wer Modell gestanden hat. Zum anderen, weil der zur Enthüllung der Plastik angereiste Statthalter des Königs, Don Fernando, Antje, der Gattin von Bürgermeister Hendrick, einen Badezuber dagelassen hat. Da ihr Mann das Ungetüm aus dem Haus entfernt, muss Antje von nun an auf der Tenne baden - wo sie nicht unbeobachtet bleibt.
Laut Müllermeister Klas dient die Beobachtung Antjes lediglich der Feststellung, ob sie das Vorbild für die Statue war. Niemand ahnt, dass des Müllermeisters Tochter Saskia, die unsterblich in Ule verliebt ist, auch seine Muse war. Antje muss viel Esprit darauf verwenden, ihre Ehe und das Badevergnügen zu retten.
